BusinessWeek has an article on Manwha
This morning I was pleasantly surprised to see a mainstream US publication like BusinessWeek devote a pretty long article to the topic of manwha. Perhaps the Korean comic craze is about to take off?
From the article:
“thanks in part to a comics industry that tends to cede more control to artists, manhwa allows for a level of individual expression, in storytelling and style, that is not always found in manga.”
I’ve never seen in put that way before, but it’s a good endorsement. :icon_cool:.
The article goes on to talk about the manwha equivalents of yaoi and shojo titles and gives a fair amount of information on the state of the manwha industry and the efforts to get more exposure in the US. It’s a good article. Though many fans probably won’t learn anything new from it, it certainly should pique the interest for newcomers to the genre.
