I just did a quick translation of the main part of the press release:

Matsumoto Leiji's representative works include "Space Battleship Yamato", "Galactic Express 999", "Captain Harlock". His works have been translated into many different languages, and have impressed and been loved by fans the world over.

Sunsoft's "global expansion" and "multiplatform deployment" business strategies, along with Matsumoto Leiji's desire to "impress fans aroudn the world" matched, and they will work together on a global project to create a new comic.

First, they will distribute digital comics via Nintendo's WiiWare service. Later developments will push forward with an entire media franchise including games, pachinko, anime, books, and various character goods.
