(Well… I’m from Brazil and I speak only a little of English, So if I say something wrong, I apologize.)
I loved Code Geass, but had never noticed that Nina was actually masturbating in that scene, I have a picture of she rubbing on a table looking at a picture of Princess Euphemia, but I always thought That has not happened.
And… This scene of Neon Genesis Evangelion was so disturbing that really gets to be spectacular.
So, I really like of this site, and thanks for the texts.^^

PS: The Adult Swim in my country is horrible, there’s no animes, and the cartoons has no grace, so the U.S. cartoon network rulez. ¬¬

I’d agree that it’s most likely the prudish west being uptight about sexuality. You could do a whole blog of the minor changes made while dubing to tone down sexual jokes. The first thing that came to mind when I started reading this was a change made in a rather mundane Tenchi Muyo scene. Ayaka is torturing Ryoko while she’s her captive in the second or third episode. English dubs have her giggling and saying it tickles, the original joke was a slightly more resque Ryoko begging her to stop because she was going to orgasm. Why was it changed? This was on a Pioneer licensed DVD, nothing that a child could possible stumble upon if properly rated.

I also remember that an entire episode of Outlaw Star was removed on it’s original airing on Cartoon Network because of nudity. (Episode 21 if I have my numbers right.)

Kudos to Adult Swim. Did they cut the scene you mentioned from Evangelion when they aired it? I don’t remember seeing it, and it seems that would have caused a whole lot more uproar. But then again, that was a male doing it and I wouldn’t be surpised if that didn’t create as much buzz as a female :/

I liked the scene at the end of one of the Genshiken 2 episodes, in which it’s strongly implied that characters are masturbating while playing ren’ai games - though it turns out that the gulping and gasping was Sasahara downing a soft drink.
