CraveOnline.com, a leading lifestyle destination for men featuring video, movies, TV, music, sports, games, cars, humor and more, announced today that it has acquired MyAnimeList.com, the world’s largest anime & manga social networking site with over 10,000 members signing in daily.

This is interesting news in that an anime and manga social networking site caught the attention of a company really geared towards more traditional “manly” things. I don’t know what Crave is planning, but I do wonder how much they paid for the site and what will become of it now.

In other news, CrunchGear reports that Bandai Visual has announced a new Blu-Ray boxed-set release of Ghost in the Shell. The box will contain a new enhanced version of the film with updated CG and stereo sound, the original anime (both in 1080p and 16:9 MPEG-4 AVC), a disc with extras, a new music CD and a special booklet. It sounds like a cool update to the now 13 year old film, but I do wonder if we need yet another “enhanced” anime video. This sounds an awful lot like the fan milking that George Lucas did with seemingly endless re-releases of the original Star Wars trilogy.
