Manga on USB Drives

I stumbled upon an old, but interesting news article today. AkibaLive reports that Buffalo (Japan) is selling trial versions of Manga on tiny little portable USB drives. This is an interesting medium for Manga, but I wonder how successful it can really be.

The USB drives are compatible with both Macs and PCs and have a capacity of 256 MB. The flash drive apparently also allows users to get more trial manga from the company’s website. It’s an interesting method for distribution. I personally would like to get all my manga in a digital format instead of going through the cost and wait of shipping books, but I fully understand the problems with piracy involved in that method. Maybe companies like Buffalo will lead the way in working out the technology to provide us all with legitimate downloadable manga.

Here’s the AkibaLive link
