Tezuka Osamu is best known to American anime fans for Astro Boy, but his body of work spans decades and thousands of pages of drawn manga. The New South Wales Art Gallery in Australia is paying homage to this internationally-renowned artistic master in an exhibition called Tezuka: the Marvel of Manga.

Tezuka: the Marvel of Manga is a tribute to the importance and depth of Tezuka’s creativity. The exhibition features over 200 original works from the late 1940s to the late 1980s including black and white ink drawings as well as colourful designs for covers and posters.

The most surprising part of this whole thing is that this exhibition is in Australia of all places, not Tezuka’s homeland of Japan where he his most honored. I think that shows a lot about how manga and anime and becoming more respected across the world.
